Scanno has charmed artist and travellers of the whole world. You can visit Santa Maria della Valle church, built in the 13th century and restored in 1563-1576. The façade has still the central portal made in the 1200s.
The church tower, with a Romanesque shape, end with a pyramidal pinnacle of 1500s. Inside, there are beautiful holy water stoups of the 18th century and the greater altar is baroque. In S.Rocco square we can admire Mosca’s house, with portal made in the 1700s, Madonna di Costantinopoli church, built in the 1400s and S. Rocco church, with a façade made in the 1400s. In this village the older women still dress in traditional outfits with homemade lace and colourful decoration adorning their black garments.
Scanno is also noted for goldsmiths and the production of laces and embroideries. Not far from the town, situated at 922 metres, there is the beautiful Lake of Scanno, a natural water formation that is the largest in the region.
